About DFG

Dementia Friendly Guernsey was established in order to raise awareness of dementia in the community and to find ways to improve the quality of life for those who live in Guernsey or visit our island and who have dementia.

The aims of Dementia Friendly Guernsey are to:

  • Make leisure and cultural activities more accessible for those with dementia
  • Provide practical support (e.g. befriending) to enable engagement in community life
  • Ensure consistent and reliable travel options for people with dementia
  • Ensure the physical environment is accessible and easy to navigate
  • Develop and/or promote community activities that are inclusive of people with dementia
  • Identify the community spaces which may need to be made more dementia-friendly

Become a member of Dementia Friendly Guernsey

Dementia Friendly Guernsey welcomes support from across the community. The membership is made up of a wide cross-section of community groups, business organisations, health and social care providers as well as individuals.

Members decide what they can each do to help and deliver this as part of their commitment to the alliance. Our aim is to involve people with dementia in every aspect of our work so as to develop a strong voice for people affected by the condition and shape the community around their needs and aspirations.
